Gravitate Midtown Presents Works by Artist Penny Hanson

Gravitate Coworking is excited to welcome local artist Penny Hanson’s work into our Midtown space! Penny is a chiropractor and artist living, working and creating in the Des Moines area.

We asked Penny about her work and here’s what she had to say.

“ ‘The theme is there is no theme’ includes the series as follows: ‘Goofy Fruits’ is an exploration of the abstract impressionistic shapes and colors of fruits and vegetables (vegetation) and how both of those concepts can impact your environment inside and out.”

“ ‘Bugs’ are false images created because these interesting little creatures can make or break our ecosystems and thus our lives. If nature can design them so strangely & beautifully, why can't I? The two concepts of vegetation & bugs are even cross-pollinated and evolve each other.”

“Much of my work is using mundane, daily ‘things’ and bringing out their brightness and warmth along with the strange and depth visually and conceptually.”

We love the personality and welcoming feel Penny’s art has brought to the Gravitate Midtown space and believe it makes the office a more creative and productive place to get things done. Members and guests are welcome to purchase many of the works currently displayed.

If you are an artist or know of someone who would be interested in showing their art in our spaces, please email heythere@gravitatecoworking.com
