CodeDay coming back to Des Moines May 24
CodeDay, the 24 hour hackathon for high school and college students, is returning to downtown Des Moines May 24-25 with a new host facility: the Science Center of Iowa. Early-bird registration is available at codeday.org/dsm for $10 through May 19.
Brett Neese, an Iowa State University student and regional manager for StudentRND (the Seattle-based organization behind CodeDay), is once again organizing the event.
Brett is handling all the logistics for several CodeDay events in the region while studying abroad in Hong Kong this semester. He's seeking additional volunteers to help with the project - if you're interested contact him via email.
Prior CodeDay events have been held in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids. Ben Milne, CEO of Dwolla (Des Moines) announced a global sponsorship of CodeDay in March.
Geoff Wood has been helping tell the story of the Iowa startup community since 2009. In addition to writing here daily, he hosts a weekly podcast, speaks at conferences and organizes several events in the community.
